Intermediate and Advanced UMTS Courses

We offer a range of intermediate and advanced (3 and 4 day) training courses on UMTS. These are delivered in association with Imagicom Limited.

The following are some of the most popular courses. They all cover the architecture of UMTS and the principles of WCDMA, but focus on particular parts of the system:

• WCDMA complete technology course (4 days)
  Details of the air interface physical layer, including spreading, scrambling, error correction, power control, compressed mode, HSDPA and HSUPA.
  
  
• Software design for WCDMA (4 days)
  Protocols in the higher layers of the air interface, such as radio resource control, mobility management, session management and call control.
  
  
• WCDMA RF & hardware design (3 days)
  The RF requirements for the UE and the NodeB, and the way those requirements affect the hardware architecture and the choice of components.
  
  
• Introduction to 3G radio planning (3 days)
  Link budget estimation, traffic modelling, site selection, network optimisation and the practical use of network planning tools.
  
  
• SIP and the IP multimedia subsystem (3 days)
  The signalling protocols SIP and SDP, and the architecture and operation of the IMS.
