35 series - Authentication
Description
These specifications define an example algorithm set for the authentication functions, known as MILENAGE.
The authentication algorithms run in the authentication centre and the USIM, which are both under the control of the home network. Individual network operators can therefore use algorithms of their own, by implementing them in the authentication centre and USIM, and then distributing the USIM. Nevertheless, the specifications define some example algorithms, for use by network operators who don't wish to write their own.
Two specifications give an introduction to the MILENAGE algorithms and an exact definition. There are also two test specifications, which define the following:
- Implementors' test data, which test the individual components within the algorithms
- Conformance test data, which test the algorithms as a whole
